Santiago de Cali
Santiago de Cali, or Cali, was the city I grew up. Here was when my passion for Historical Architecture started. I found a book in my grandmas library that depicted pictures of Cali’s early urban landscape.
Sadly the vestiges of the past seemed to have been completely erased. Monumental buildings bulldozed, Yet despite all of its ills, its a beautiful place full of wonderful kind people. Hopefully what little remains of its historical infrastructure is preserved.
this Photos were taken on my first digital camera back in early 2000’s. I would go walking to all this places even though it was advised against, A risk I wouldn’t take nowadays.
Cali, city, capital of Valle del Cauca departamento, western Colombia. It lies on both sides of the Cali River at an elevation of 3,327 feet (1,014 metres), in the subtropical intermontane Cauca Valley. The city was founded on July 25, 1536, by Sebastián de Benalcázar. Cali did not develop economically until the 1950s, however, because of its landlocked position. It has since become Colombia’s third largest city, after Bogotá and Medellín.
